在汉语语篇中，我们常常会遇到一些用来表示现象、行为、属性的汉语范畴词，它们一般跟在名词、动词或形容词后面，并不表达实际意义，但却可以使行文完整顺畅、表达具体，常见的有“行为”、“状况”、“活动”、“态度”、“问题”、“方面”、“情景”等等。

但是，英语中很多带有“-tion”、“-ty”、“?ment”、“?ness”等后缀的抽象名词，其本身就具有类似汉语范畴词的作用和含义。

如果英译时将这些汉语范畴词一一直译出来，那么势必会造成英语表达的啰嗦冗余，因此英译时可考虑将其省译。而反过来，英语句子译为汉语时，也要考虑到汉语的这种表达习惯，在汉语译句中适当添加范畴词，从而使译文语句更加通顺、逻辑更加合理。

我们从前面7个例子可以看出，汉语原句中的范畴词如果直接译出，那么英语表达就会显得繁复而啰嗦，因此此处均采取了省译法，将其前面的名词或形容词等译为抽象名词，从而使英语译句简洁、明了、直接。

而例8和例9则不同，采取了转译法。

例8中的“生活问题”如果译为“unless their daily lives are met/solved”则语义不通，因此转译为“unless their daily needs are met”，搭配则更合乎逻辑。

同样地，例9中的“生活情况”如果译为“share our living conditions/situation/situations”肯定是不合适的，而译为“share our lives”则跟句子中的“forge the human bonds of friendship”在结构上不够对称呼应，因此此处可考虑通过转译为“texture of our daily lives”，来实现形神合一的目的。
